Addiction Recovery Services

When the use of alcohol or drugs interferes with someone’s daily activities, job, family life, social life, it is a sign of something serious. That is why Preferred Family Healthcare (PFH) provides professional addiction recovery services tailored to fit each person’s needs. PFH provides a full continuum of services for people experiencing substance use problems.

Addiction recovery services may include group therapy, individual counseling, alcohol and drug education, recreational therapy, relapse prevention, and an introduction to support groups. Some groups focus on special topics like assertiveness, stress management, relapse prevention, and family dynamics.

Addiction Recovery Programs

Residential Substance Use Treatment

Residential treatment, as opposed to outpatient treatment, is a form of substance use treatment that involves living at a treatment facility.

Preferred Family Healthcare and its subsidiaries provide residential treatment services at 16 locations in Kansas, Illinois, and Missouri. With over 350 beds available, Preferred Family Healthcare is one of the leading providers of residential care for those facing the challenges of a Substance Use Disorder. Specialized locations in Springfield and St. Charles, MO provide a unique setting in which mothers with young children can receive residential substance use care with their children present. Also, these locations have a licensed day care on-site.

Intensive Outpatient Services

  • Intensive Outpatient services include group therapy, group education, and individual counseling with case management support.
  • Individual counseling sessions occur at least twice a month.
  • Group therapy and education sessions comprise a total of 9 hours a week.
  • Medication Assisted Treatment and access to psychiatric services are available if needed.

Supported Recovery

Individual Placement and Support (IPS)

  • A supported employment approach focused on serving individuals with substance abuse and/or  severe mental health issues.
  • Each individual’s interests, preferences, and support needs are considered when pursuing rapid placement into competitive employment.

Treatment Court

  • Provides court ordered behavioral health/substance use disorder services including counseling for juveniles and adults.
  • Referrals for services are made through Drug Court, DWI Court, and Juvenile Court.

DUI PROGRAMMING

  • Minimal Risk – Requires 10 hours of DRE
  • Moderate Risk – Requires 10 hours of
  • DRE and 12 hours of Early Intervention Services
  • Significant Risk – Requires 10 hours of DRE and a minimum of 20 hours of treatment
  • High Risk – Requires 75 hours of treatment

  • Drivers Risk Education (DRE) Class – $145

SATOP - Missouri

  • SATOP is Substance Awareness Traffic Offenders Program.  This is a network of comprehensive community-based education and treatment options for individuals arrested for alcohol and drug related driving offenses.
  • Services are offered by PFH throughout many Missouri counties.  Services include:  Serious and Repeat Offender Program, Clinical Intervention Program, Screeners, Youth Clinical Intervention, Offender Education Program, Weekend Intervention Program, and Adolescent Diversion Education Program.

What is drug addiction?

According to the Mayo Clinic: Drug addiction, also called substance use disorder, is a disease that affects a person's brain and behavior and leads to an inability to control the use of a legal or illegal drug or medicine. Substances such as alcohol, marijuana and nicotine also are considered drugs.

Programs located in Olathe is funded (in whole/in part) by the Substance Use Continuum of Care Fund (SUF), which is supported by Johnson County and the Cities of DeSoto, Gardner, Leawood, Lenexa, Merriam, Mission, Olathe, Overland Park, Prairie Village and Shawnee, and administered by the Drug and Alcoholism Council of Johnson County, a program of United Community Services of Johnson County.
