One of the most important things that I learned about myself was that I could love myself, that I am somebody, that I don't have to turn my life over to drugs..

Admission

With admission into Preferred Family Healthcare each person is assigned a counselor. Counselors provide individual counseling as well as group therapy. They teach about the negative effects of substance use and teach skills needed to support a healthy lifestyle, free of alchohol and drugs.

Community Support Specialist

CSS (Community Support Specialist) workers serve as the professional liaison with referral sources, employers, medical professionals, attorneys, and other community resources. Community Support Specialists teach life skills and coordinate aftercare. They access community resources for assistance with housing, utilities, clothing, education, childcare and healthcare. Our Community Support Specialists also address how to have sober “fun” and encourage healthy social activities.

Aftercare

After any kind of substance use treatment, most people need continuing support. In addition to self-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, many people benefit from Preferred Family’s continued support through counseling and groups. Aftercare addresses issues such as relapse prevention, responsibility, and healthy relationships. Alumni groups are also being developed to further assist in relapse prevention.
