Living on your own

Safety planning is still essential even after leaving or no longer living with an abuser. Abuse often continues through stalking, harassment, threats, or manipulation—especially when children, shared property, or legal matters are involved. A safety plan helps survivors stay alert, protect their privacy, and respond to unexpected contact or danger. It can include steps like securing your home, updating passwords, documenting incidents, and knowing who to call for help. Planning ahead empowers survivors to maintain safety and peace of mind in their new environment.
