Brain Injury

PFH Employment Services offers associates specialized in meeting the needs of people who have a brain injury. Using a team approach, individuals will work with family and friends, referring counselor and/or service coordinator, and PFH team members.

Vocational Services:

Specially designed vocational planning
- Assessments of vocational goals consider the unique needs of people who have experienced a brain injury
Job Placement
- One-on-one support is available throughout the job placement process including intervention with employers regarding accommodations that might be needed
Coordination with other community agencies and organizations
- - Providing information and referral to support systems, including the Department of Health and Senior Services Adult Head Injury Program and local Brain Injury Association support groups
Ongoing support once a person is working, which may include:
- - Job coaching and/or on-the-job training
  - Assistance with developing the necessary accommodations and work-site supports to ensure employment success
  - Brain Injury training for employers
  - Assistance with benefits planning

Support Services:

Extended Follow Along Services
- - Continuous employment support is provided, as needed, to enhance employment retention.
Pre-vocational Training
- - Prior to placement services, an individual may receive job training skills through class time and job site training. Therefore, increasing the chance for employment success.
Transitional Home-Community Support
- - Case Management services provide training and practice with activities related to developing the skills for successful independent living and maintaining a household.
Brain Injury Support Groups
- - Weekly and monthly support groups and socials facilitate development of support networks for survivors, family members and caregivers
Socialization Skills Training
- - These instruction courses are designed to provide group training in a classroom and/or community setting. For instance, socialization classes could include: managing frustration, assertiveness training, improving relationships, and basic social skills.
Special Instruction
- - These tutoring courses are designed to provide one-on-one and group assistance in a classroom setting. For example, special instruction classes could include: one-handed typing, written driver exam, help with college courses, and GED.
