PFH Employment Services (select locations) offers an opportunity for people to develop much needed skills. More importantly, the programs provide extensive hands-on experience which prepares people to go directly to work. As the job market changes, so do we. We are continually adjusting our training programs and developing new instruction based on feedback from employers in the community.

Janitorial

This course consists of on-the-job, as well as classroom, training in the duties performed by janitors, custodians and housekeeping departments. Janitorial Skills Training is a 14-week, hands-on program, which includes assistance with obtaining and maintaining related employment.

Basic Computer

This training program is designed to meet the specific needs of individuals who need extra time or personal attention to help them learn about computers and the different software they might need in their search for a new job or a different career. Computer Skills Training is a self tutorial; however, PFH (formerly AO) staff are available to work with individuals one-on-one.

Child Care

This program is largely community-based with 75% of the time being spent within a licensed daycare environment. Classroom time is used for initial instruction and to assist the individual with learning how to develop plans and activities. This program prepares participants with the skills and certifications needed to become successfully employed in the childcare industry. Childcare Training is a 10-week, hands-on program, which includes assistance with obtaining and maintaining related employment.

Food Service

Through hands-on training, individuals receive the experience they will need to become employed in the food service industry. Aspects of the food service industry that are covered may include: understanding food service career ladders, food preparation, menu planning, waiting on customers, sanitation and safety. Food Service Training is a 12-week, hands-on program, which includes assistance with obtaining and maintaining related employment.
